Practical tips

How to stand out

  1. Ask about hours, not just the rate. Guaranteed hours and overtime decide what you actually take home.
  2. Look for shift differentials. Nights, weekends and holidays often pay more than the posted base rate.
  3. Ask about the path up. Many hourly roles lead to lead, supervisor or skilled positions with higher pay.

About the data

LandMe collects open jobs directly from employers' own career sites and applicant tracking systems, not from other job boards. Counts are open jobs with a known U.S. state as of October 12, 2026. “Posted in the last 7 days” uses the date the employer posted the job. This collection includes jobs the employer pays by the hour. When a listing gives an hourly range, LandMe uses the middle of the range; a job is included when that is $20 or more. Median listed pay is the middle of those hourly rates. Median pay is shown only when at least 30 listings include pay.
