Practical tips
How to stand out
- Ask how long the contract runs and whether it can be extended or converted to a permanent role.
- Ask who employs you. Some contracts pay through the company, others through an agency or as a 1099 contractor.
- Price in benefits. If the contract has no benefits, compare the rate to a salaried job plus benefits.

About the data
LandMe collects open jobs directly from employers' own career sites and applicant tracking systems, not from other job boards. Counts are open jobs with a known U.S. state as of October 12, 2026. “Posted in the last 7 days” uses the date the employer posted the job. Listed pay uses the middle of each posted range. Hourly pay is converted to a yearly amount at 2,080 hours (40 hours a week, 52 weeks). Median pay is shown only when at least 30 listings include pay.
